Australia marketplace purchase from a private seller: are my rights the same?
No. ACCC says most consumer guarantees do not apply to one-off private sales where the seller is not running a business, including many Facebook Marketplace or Gumtree sales. Some basic ownership guarantees still apply, including title, undisturbed possession and no hidden debts or charges. Official source: ACCC.
