New Zealand used car: does an expired warranty end my rights?
No. Consumer Protection NZ says an expired dealer or extended warranty does not automatically remove rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act. A faulty vehicle can still be covered if it has not lasted a reasonable time or otherwise fails the statutory guarantees. Official source: Consumer Protection New Zealand.
