NSW fine: can the court outcome be worse than the original penalty notice?
Yes. NSW Local Court warns that if you elect to have a penalty notice dealt with by the court and are found guilty, the court may impose a higher fine, court costs and other consequences depending on the offence. The court-election process replaces the original fine process. Official source: NSW Local Court. Guide: https://getinstantlaw.com/minor-offences-public-order
