NSW traffic fine: should I request a review or elect to go to court?

Jez Smith4 October 2026

NSW Government says most eligible fines can first be reviewed by Revenue NSW, especially where there are special circumstances or supporting evidence. Electing to go to court is a separate step and can have higher-risk consequences, including a larger fine, court costs, a criminal conviction for some offences or licence disqualification. Once a court election is accepted, you generally cannot change your mind. Official source: NSW Government. Guide: https://getinstantlaw.com/traffic-driving-problems
