Scotland home purchase: when does the deal become legally binding?
In Scotland, the buyer’s offer and the seller’s qualified acceptance are followed by a series of solicitor letters called missives. Once the missives are concluded and both sides agree the terms, there is a binding contract. Pulling out after that point can expose a party to damages. Official source: mygov.scot.
