CONSUMER RIGHTS · REFUND REFUSALS

Can a business refuse a refund by law?

Sometimes. A business can often refuse a simple change-of-mind return, but it may not be able to refuse a refund, repair, replacement or other remedy when consumer law gives you a statutory right. The answer depends on what went wrong and the jurisdiction.

Answer first: “no refunds” does not always mean no legal remedy.Change of mind, faulty goods, misleading descriptions, failed services, warranties and distance-sale cancellation rights are different legal questions. Start with the reason for the refund request.
